香港紓緩醫學學會主席吳常青表示,劇中指紓緩治療即由病人自生自滅的說法是錯誤的。相反,紓緩治療是一種積極治療。當病人確診末期癌症,或不可治癒的器官衰竭時,身體會有不同痛苦,情緒會受困擾,家人或照顧者會哀傷。負責紓緩治療的醫護人員會主動了解病人及家屬所需,紓緩病人身體及心靈痛苦,改善生活質素,讓病人在人生最後階段盡量過得精彩,絕非要病人放棄治療,或只讓病人等死。
